blips of goodness amidst the chaos

How to Pretend Like Fall Isn’t Around the Corner

It’s very possible that I may someday have a snappy breakdown to share about some of the recent happenings in my regular life, but today is not that day. In the past few weeks, nearly all of these things came by surprise:

  • A bee sting that made my leg swell for days (no warning).
  • A death in our extended family (very little warning).
  • A moose that roamed our neighborhood and climbed into our planters (no warning).
  • A whirlwind one-night work trip (roughly a week warning).
  • A whirlwind one-night family trip (one day warning)
  • A separate 3-night family trip (planned a few weeks ago).

As you can see, some of these events were good, and some of these were bad, and all required various amounts of energy, time, and (in some cases) tissues. There were multiple flights, lots of driving, and roughly 19 rounds of packing completed.

I don’t have any shareable photos to commemorate the first two events, but I do have plenty of the latter four, which makes it look like this month was very exciting and fun and flashy, but I’d be remiss if I posted them without context that in between the ~~fun stuff~~ there was lots a fair amount of stress and scrambling.

I DID, however, learn that the secret to not freaking out over back to school season is to just be so busy that you’re unable to look more than six hours ahead on the calendar.

Without further ado, the highlights:

Next to some art cosplaying as rose petals.
Climbing whilst cruising.
First visual confirmation of Mexico!
I learned how to pose at my work event and then applied my new knowledge at the lake 48 hours later.
Moose hide like toddlers, who knew?
Hello, yes, I’m a tourist, why do you ask?
A view I enjoy.
Dog tax, thanks for reading!
